Ludwik Tomiałojć Medal

The winner of 2025 Ludwik Tomiałojć Medal is dr hab. Sabina Pierużek-Nowak, professor of the University of Warsaw. Congratulations!

The medal has been presented by prof. Rafał Kowalczyk, the president of the Committee of Environmental and Evolutionary Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The Ludwik Tomiałojć Medal is an award presented by the Committee of Environmental and Evolutionary Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research and protection of biodiversity in Poland. This distinction was established in honour of the Polish ornithologist Professor Ludwik Tomiałojć (1939–2020).

The award particularly emphasizes efforts in the development of citizen science and nature education. It serves as a mark of recognition for outstanding dedication to nature conservation and the promotion of biological knowledge in Poland. Paweł Pawlaczyk was the first recipient of the Ludwik Tomiałojć Medal, awarded in 2023.
